Sangster's Rum Cream wins another int'l award
Sangster's Original Jamaica Rum Cream
which is owned by the Lascelles Group has won gold at the Monde Quality
Selection 2004 competition, a performance replicated by its sister brand -
Appleton Special Jamaica Rum.
The award was announced recently in Amsterdam,
the Netherlands.
The cream liqueur, made with premium aged
Jamaican rum, was created by the late Dr Ian Sangster. However, the brand was
acquired a few years ago by the Lascelles Group, after a receiver was sent into
Sangster's Ltd by creditor institutions.
Yesterday, Andrea Bowes, brand manager for
Sangster's said that the award would be added to the growing list of
international awards won by this product. "This Monde Quality Selection
award confirms that Sangster's Original Jamaica Rum Cream is, indeed, a world
class product of Jamaica," she said in a press statement.
Previously, Sangster's won awards in
international competitions, including a gold medal last year in the San
Francisco World Spirits Challenge and four gold medals from the International
Wine and Spirit Competition.
"We are very happy that we can now add a
gold medal from Monde to our list of international accolades," said Bowes.
The brand is distributed in Jamaica by Lascelles
Wines and Spirits. It is exported to Canada, the United Kingdom, France, as well
as a number of Caribbean and Latin American countries.
