Jim Lakhwani buys coveted Ochi property
Prominent Ocho Rios businessman Jim
Lakhwani will soon begin work on the half-acre property on the
resort town's Main Street which he recently acquired, the
businessman confirmed yesterday.
Lakhwani, who owns one of Ocho
Rios' biggest duty-free shopping centres - the Sonis Plaza -
acquired the property that is considered one of the north coast's
most coveted locations because of its close proximity to the Ocho
Rios cruise ship pier.
He bought it from the Rhoden family
for an undisclosed sum of money.
"I want to develop it to
create more employment in the area and for the good of the
country," Lakhwani stated, adding that he had been in
industry for close to 40 years and had great faith in the
industry's future.
Usually reliable sources say that
Lakhwani also recently purchased a nearby property at 10 Main
Street, the main building of which has been closed for renovation.
The successful restaurant, Coconuts, which is owned and operated
by Anil Sud, is operated from a section of the building and
remains open for business. |
